Educator Effectiveness

District level work is based on the Strategic Framework.
Building level work is based on the School Improvement Plan.
Individual level work is based on Educator Effectiveness.

Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) identify the standards and skills that students need to master and the ways teachers will measure students' progress relative to those skills throughout a course. Soooooo.....what are you interested in looking at and for whom?

Check with your teaching team or building level coordinators to see if there is already work on developing a common SLO. Results are a measure of growth NOT proficiency. (One of the new educators and I were discussing a growth mindset and referenced a TED talk that supports that mindset.)

Here is the district site for Educator Effectiveness.

A couple key documents:
1. This MMSD-produced document outlines the process of establishing the SLO. You can use it with a team to walk you through the process of writing your SLO. Remember to use baseline data from this school year when setting your SLO.
2. This file is a pdf of the Teachscape form you'll complete for your own Educator Effectiveness process. You'll note it parallels pretty well the process guide that MMSD produced.
3. Here is a SLO writing template from the MMSD site.

The DPI has a repository of SLOs not meant as exemplars but as samples.

Fine Arts teachers looking for support in writing SLOs can look at this resource from DPI which includes sample Wisconsin Arts examples and rubrics. Included here is a sample SLO from 8th grade Vocal Music. There is also a link here to sample SLOs from other states.

Professional Practice Goal (PPG)

After completing your self-review and identifying instructional strategies to support your student growth goals, develop and record a Professional Practice Goal (PPG). Identify the instructional strategies and support you need to achieve this PPG. The instructional strategies you identified for your SLO can inform your PPG, or you can focus on other areas you and/or your evaluator have identified.

This is an overview, example, and FAQ for the Professional Practice Goal aspect of EE.

This is a pdf of the form you'll complete around your PPG. It's a pdf version of what you'll enter into TeachScape.
